PING G430

The highly anticipated G430 Family finally enters the market in 2023. Last year instead of releasing a new product, PING decided to keep the previous G425 family as their current release to allow them more time to work on developing the G430 due to the implications that Covid-19 brought in terms of delays, factory lockdowns and interruptions to research. The all-new impressive G430 range from PING unlocks more speed and distance through engineering innovations like Carbonfly Wrap without sacrificing its industry-leading forgiveness. The family consists of three driver models, two fairway wood designs, hybrids and irons to provide something for every golfer no matter their skill level.

Drivers

The new G430 driver provides the next generation of speed. PING’s engineering team have developed several new technologies common to all three models while applying specific advancements to each individual head, producing measurable ball-speed gains while improving the sound throughout the series. The added ball speed is attributed to a shallower and thinner forged face design engineered with Spinsistency, a variable roll radius technology proven on the G425 fairway woods and hybrids. The improved and pleasing sound is the result of fine-tuning the frequencies of the head through a new internal rib structure.

PING have stuck with the same naming of their previous G425 drivers including the MAX, SFT and LST. The MAX has a 460cc head which remains the most forgiving and fits the widest range of golfers. This once again has a moveable backweight which influences shot shape between the Draw, Neutral and Fade settings. The new SFT (Straight Flight Technology) head is also 460cc with a two-setting, moveable backweight that aims to deliver 13 yards of right-to-left shot bend in the Draw setting and another 7 yards in the Draw+ setting. The LST (Low Spin Technology) driver has an exclusive Carbonfly Wrap that covers the crown and wraps into the heel/toe sections of the skirt to save weight for more ball speed, less spin and higher MOI. The head is a smaller tour-style shape at 440cc to fit faster swing speeds and the more elite golfers. Like the MAX this has a moveable backweight which influences shot shape between the Draw, Neutral and Fade settings.

Fairways

PING’s latest G430 fairways have been engineered to help produce added distance and forgiveness for a variety of skill levels. The Carbonfly Wrap maximises ball speed, resulting in higher, longer carries in both the MAX or SFT model. The lightweight composite crown wraps into the heel and toe sections to increase ball speed and provide a more pleasing sound at impact. A tungsten backweight extends the perimeter weighting to ensure forgiveness is kept. Two proven technologies from the previous generation carry over and contribute to distance gains and spin consistency across the clubface. FaceWrap Technology generates more flexing for faster ball speed and higher launch for greater distance while Spinsistency improves performance across the face by reducing spin to increase ball speed from the maraging steel face. Like the driver, the MAX fits the widest range of golfers while the SFT suits the player wanting to help square the face at impact.

Hybrids

The new G430 hybrids have the key to more distance and green holding stopping power. The latest innovations including the Carbonfly Wrap alongside proven technologies such as Facewrap Technology and Spinsistency deliver the speed and performance golfers need to take on any approach shot. Golfers can dial in their desired ball flight for the best results with six loft options available including a 2 hybrid at 17°, 3 hybrid at 19°, 4 hybrid at 22°, 5 hybrid at 26°, 6 hybrid at 30° and finally a 7 hybrid at 34°. These are ideal for mid-and-long-iron replacements to help fill distance gaps in a player’s game.

Irons

PING claim that their new multi-material iron produces distance gains of approximately 7-10 yards and improved accuracy throughout the set. It’s the result of a complex design with a thinner face that delivers up to 2 mph more ball speed, leading to significant distance gains without compromising PING’s famous forgiveness. A key contributor to the added distance is the PurFlex cavity badge, an innovation with seven flex zones that allows more free bending to increase ball speed across the face. The badge contributes to the solid feel and pleasing impact sound. Among the refinements to the overall shape is a shorter hosel, which creates a more compact, clean look and helps aligning it closer to the force line to increase ball speed and ensure solid impact, especially low on the face. Approximately 1° of additional bounce throughout the set provides clean turf interaction and pure strikes, minimising ‘heavy’ shots that come up short. The high-density tungsten toe and shaft tip weights contribute to tighter dispersion patterns with finally the hydropearl 2.0 chrome finish delivers consistent performance from wet or dry grass.

High Launch (HL)

The G430 HL build is a new full-set custom option for slower swing speed golfers who don’t generate sufficient clubhead speed and ball velocity from traditionally weighted clubs. Custom engineered by PING lowering the overall system weight so golfers can swing faster and generate more ball speed for higher launching, longer carrying shots across the entire set. The HL options is available in G430 MAX and SFT drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and irons.
