Winter Golf Course Information

Wrap up warm and join us on our 18-hole golf course in Wallingford during the Winter months.

We pride ourselves at The Springs, to provide the best experience for our golfers and do not operate temporary greens or tees, allowing our golfers to book their tee times in the knowledge that they will be able to play on the best surface possible and not artificial grass.

With stunning countryside views set in a riverside location, with the River Thames running alongside the 15th hole, The Springs Golf Club turns into a Winter Wonderland during the colder months, perfect for that relaxing round of golf.

winter play at The Springs Golf course

We fully understand that not everyone can or wants to carry their golfing bag and during the winter we try and balance the needs of our fantastic course, with the expectation of members and visitors.

Trolleys, both electric and push, can be used throughout the season but if the course shows evidence of a white frost, hedgehog wheels must be used as they minimise damage on the course.

During the winter period we would expect buggies and trolleys to be kept away from greens, green surrounds and approaches and tees. This helps to prevent damage to the closely mown areas and of course provides our visitors and regular golfers with a better surface to play off.

As our 18-hole course is located close to the idyllic River Thames there are occasions where fog is slow to clear. During this period play is considered dangerous especially when visibility falls to below 200 yards.

The Springs Golf Club recommend that if you cannot see the leaning pine, to the left of the first fairway, from the white tee on the first hole you must not tee off.

A klaxon will be sounded if an immediate suspension of play is required.
